After the Second World War, a large number of immigrants from Eastern Europe refused to be repatriated to their countries of origin,which had become what were known as People\u2019sDemocracies within the Communist bloc.They were then re-settled and welcomed into third countries, partly for the economic benefits they brought in the form of a substantial addition to the workforce.<\/p>\r\n","fav":"0","fav_l":"0","don":"Madame Farkas, a Hungarian artisan","d_y":1958,"d_m":10,"d_d":19,"d_s":-1}
