It was the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of the first railway line in Continental Europe, linking Brussels to Mechelen, a town in the Flemish Region. STIB stands for the <em>Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de Transport Intercommunal de Bruxelles <\/em>(\u00ab&nbsp;Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company&nbsp;\u00bb).
