Fleeing a forced marriage in order to devote herself to God, she died on her way to a convent in Cologne where she had intended to seek refuge. Her cult and legend developed in southern Belgium, particularly in Gerpinnes in the Walloon Region, where an annual walk takes place in her honour.The participants wear the uniforms of the Second French Empire, the regime that ruled France from 1852 to 1870.The procession is one of the Marches of the Entre Sambre-et-Meuse in the Walloon Region, a series of traditional walks that take place from May to October.
