Established in the late 17th century by Tsar Peter the Great, the Preobrazhensky Regiment was one of the most prestigious regiments of the Russian Imperial Guard. Affiliation was reserved for young Russian aristocrats who had proven their loyalty to the imperial government and the Tsar.
